Anambra Conflicts: NSCDC Pledges Enhanced Security in Omor Community

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has promised the Omor Community that it will deploy improved security presence to tackle crime, safeguard their farms and reduce frequent inter-communal conflicts.

Maku Olatunde, the State Commandant made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Igwe Omor, His Royal Highness Igwe (Dr.) Oranu Chris Chidume, Eze Ana-Ukwu, Eze Igulube of Omor on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

This is according to a statement issued by the Superintendent of Corps, SC Okadigbo Edwin, the Head, Media and Tactical Operations of the Command.

Speaking during the visit, Commandant Olatunde reaffirmed his commitment to working with the traditional ruler to foster peace and development in Omor, and expressed gratitude to the monarch’s support and the people’s trust in the Corps.

He stressed the importance of traditional institutions, affirming that they are valuable to the security agency and the society at large.

The Commandant stated that the collaboration “aims to promote unity and peaceful conflict resolution, aligning with the Corps’ goals for maintaining peace and stability”.

He urged the monarch and his subjects to maintain peace and harmony, promising to work with other security agencies to uphold law and order in the community.

“Security is a collective responsibility of all and as such, I am appealing that everyone should be vigilant and provide the security agencies with credible information that will aid the fight against crimes and criminality,” Olatunde added.

On his part, Igwe Chidume assured that he would continue to partner with the NSCDC in maintaining communal peace and security in his domain.

He noted that Omor is an agrarian community in Ayamelum Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State, known for rice production in commercial quantities in the South-East zone of the country.

Consequently, he mentioned that he is determined to partner with relevant security agencies to enhance security and boast agricultural produce in the community.

“The high point of the visit was the tour of some community facilities that needed security fortification, presentation of souvenirs and exchange of pleasantries as a mark of appreciation and acceptance,” the statement added.
