Comptroller Dalha Wada Chedi has handed over the mantle of leadership of Customs Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’ Kaduna to Comptroller Ahamdu Bello Shuaibu.
The transition ceremony was held at the Unit’s Headquarters in Kaduna on Wednesday.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Unit, Isah Sulaiman on Thursday.
According to the statement, the outgoing Comptroller, Wada while delivering his speech thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale for the opportunity given to him to serve as the Comptroller of the Unit and also for the task ahead.
He also commended the unwavering support and dedication of the officers and men of the Unit – and urged them to extend the same support he enjoyed to Comptroller Shuaibu.
His words: “I must commend you for your sacrifices, doggedness and tenacity throughout my stay as the Comptroller FOU ‘B’ Kaduna. Your hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence have been the driving force behind our collective achievement.
“l urged all of you, Officers and Men of this Unit to embrace our new Comptroller and extend the same unwavering support you gave me to continue to take the Unit to greater heights.”
In his remarks, the new leader of Customs FOU Zone B, Comptroller Shuaibu thanked the Almighty Allah for the privilege of being assigned to the Unit – and expressed gratitude to CGC Adewale and his management team for their support.
Comptroller Shuaibu commended his predecessor for the achievements he recorded during his tenure.
He called for the cooperation and synergy of all the security agencies as well as the media.
“We are public servants, everybody plays his or her own role in the project Nigeria. We are here to contribute our quota of ensuring that the mandate of NCS in revenue generation, anti-smuggling, trade facilitation and above all National Security is achieved.
“We cannot do it alone without the cooperation of all the security agencies as well as the Press. We must work together because we do not have any country other than Nigeria,” he added.
Shuaibu also charged officers and men of the Unit to be disciplined, focused and professionals in the discharge of their duty.
The ceremony garnered support from various stakeholders – and witnessed the presence of dignitaries like the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kaduna State; the Commandant of the Nigeria Police College, Kaduna; the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps; the State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps; The Zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) among others.
The dignitaries commended Comptroller Wada’s dedication to duty and wished him success in his new assignment.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Zonal Manager of NAN said, “As the baton passes from one capable leader to another, the FOU Zone “B” stands poised to maintain its unwavering commitment to safeguarding national interests and fostering collaboration for a brighter future.”
Before his recent position, Comptroller Shuaibu was the immediate past Area Controller of Ogun 1 Area Command, Idi-Iroko, while Comptroller Wada has been redeployed to the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters, Abuja, as the Comptroller Enforcement.
