Ace Broadcaster, Vera Osokpo Bags Lifetime Achievement Award

Lagos-based On Air Personality, Vera Osokpo has won a Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to the media industry through promotion of free speech, creating opportunities for balanced reporting and advancing the cause of developmental journalism.

According to the organisers, the award presentation, which was part of Isoko Mirror Newspaper’s 20th anniversary, held in Mano Hotel (Yaga) Oleh, Isoko South of Delta State, Osokpo was also recognised for her selflessness and commitment to credible journalistic ideals.

Osokpo, who presently works as one of the anchors on MITV breakfast show in Lagos, has carved a niche for herself in print, electronic and online journalism, blazing a trail of excellence and versatility.

Vera Osokpo Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

While thanking the organisers for honour, she described the award as a motivation to do more, and a challenge to further impact on the society through her work.

According to the awardee, journalism is a social responsibility that demands integrity and forthright disposition from practitioners.

“This honour is a challenge for me to improve in what I am doing for society. I never saw it coming. All I did was try to be a better version of myself as the days go by. I didn’t know people were following and taking note of my activities. Indeed, I am humbled by this honour”, she said.

Other awardees include Hon .Godwin Ogorugba, the Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government who bagged a Lifetime Archiement Award for his immense contribution to leadership and community development, DCP Joseph Alukoghene Esegine Esq in recognition of his humongous contribution to nation-building.
