The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has ordered the deployment of a total of 1,021 personnel across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas to ensure the safety and protection of lives during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The deployment also aims to protect property and critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Maku Olatunde announced the deployment through an operational order issued to Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Departments and Units, Heads of Formations, and Tactical Commanders, detailing their specific responsibilities and duties on Wednesday.
Okadigbo Edwin, the Command’s Head of Media and Tactical Operations made this known in a statement.
According to the statement, Commandant Olatunde directed them to intensify surveillance and visibility patrols in all critical areas, including national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure, flashpoints, vulnerable points, Eid praying grounds, schools, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, and other public places to prevent vandalism.
He charged supervisory officers to closely monitor their subordinates, cautioning them to uphold professional standards, remain courteous, and be firm while carrying out their responsibilities.
The Anambra NSCDC boss assured the public that the security architecture would be closely monitored and reviewed as necessary to ensure the continued effectiveness of the operational plans.
Olatunde urged the residents to continue praying for the state and nation, and to report any incidents to the nearest NSCDC formation, while refraining from taking the law into their own hands.
He congratulated and extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to the Muslim community, wishing them a peaceful and joyous celebration.
