Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Obi Honours Fallen Heroes, Urges FG to Prioritise Military Welfare

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi has honoured the fallen heroes of the Nigerian military for their service to the nation, stating that their “sacrifices are deeply appreciated”.

Obi urged the Federal Government (FG) to prioritise the welfare of military personnel and that of their families.

Obi’s remarks come in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day on Wednesday, January 15 – a day dedicated to honouring Nigeria’s fallen military heroes, veterans, and active service members.

“I join millions of Nigerians in expressing profound gratitude to these gallant individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the peace and security of our beloved nation.

“I also extend my heartfelt encouragement to our active-duty military personnel stationed on various frontlines, bravely combating the scourge of insecurity across the country. Your sacrifices are deeply appreciated,” he stated on X (formerly Twitter).

Amidst the challenges, the former Anambra State Governor encouraged the military personnel to remain steadfast and resolute in their noble mission to secure the future of the nation.

“Furthermore, I call on the government to prioritize the welfare of our military personnel by ensuring access to quality healthcare for them and their families, as well as education for their children.

“These essential measures will inspire greater commitment and reinforce their dedication to building a safer and better Nigeria,” he added.
