A new leadership has emerged at the Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) following the formal handover from Comptroller Comfort Senas Ukpanah to Comptroller F.A. Bodunde.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASCI BN Udey, the handover ceremony was held on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
In her valedictory address, the outgoing Area Controller, Comptroller Ukpanah, expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for a fruitful and impactful tenure.
She disclosed that her time in office was peaceful and devoid of major incidents, despite initial concerns about security upon her arrival in Enugu.
Ukpanah highlighted the attainment of an unprecedented revenue target as a significant milestone — attributing the feat to the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork of officers and men of the Command.
She urged personnel to uphold integrity, prioritise the Service’s interests above personal gain, and sustain the collective spirit that underpinned their achievements.
On her part, the incoming Area Controller, Comptroller Bodunde, expressed delight and humility in succeeding her colleague, whom she described as a sister, mentor, and coach.
She pledged to build on existing successes, aligning with the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi‘s mantra of collaboration, cooperation, and innovation.
Comptroller Bodunde affirmed that revenue generation and trade facilitation remain the Service’s foremost priorities, stressing that “the success of one is the success of all.”
She encouraged officers to work in synergy, ensure transparency in records, and uphold professionalism to strengthen the Command’s operational efficiency.
The new Area Controller also charged officers to remain brand ambassadors of the Service by demonstrating integrity, discipline, and commitment to duty.
Bodunde commended the Customs management for its sustained support in welfare and promotions while appreciating her predecessor’s laudable contributions.
She further sought the cooperation of officers and men of the Command to elevate its performance and enhance its revenue profile.
