Comptroller Aliyu Hands Over Oyo/Osun Customs Leadership Mantle to DC Adewole

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has witnessed a change of leadership as Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu handed over to Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Moses Wale Adewole, as the Acting Customs Area Controller.

This follows the redeployment of Comptroller Aliyu to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Lagos.

Speaking during the handing-over ceremony on Monday, DC Adewole expressed deep appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the entire management team for the trust reposed in him.

He described the appointment as a call to higher service and pledged to uphold professionalism, integrity, discipline, and teamwork in advancing the mandate of the NCS.

The Acting Controller commended Comptroller Aliyu for his exemplary leadership and notable achievements in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and stakeholder engagement.

He assured officers and stakeholders that his administration would consolidate the gains recorded and work diligently to surpass existing milestones.

Adewole highlighted his operational priorities, including enhanced and transparent revenue collection, strengthened anti-smuggling operations through collaboration with sister agencies, continuous capacity building and welfare of officers, improved work ethics and discipline, as well as sustained engagement with traditional institutions, business communities, importers, exporters, and other stakeholders across Oyo and Osun States.

In his remarks, Comptroller Aliyu described his tenure as fulfilling and impactful, marked by strong collaboration with the governments and people of Oyo and Osun States, effective synergy with sister security agencies, and sustained engagement with traditional rulers within the Command’s area of responsibility.

He disclosed that the Command’s improved revenue performance was achieved through enhanced compliance, structured engagement with excise factories, and the deployment of the B’Odogwu Unified Customs Management System.

The outgoing Controller also praised the officers and men of the Command for their professionalism and resilience, which translated into significant anti-smuggling successes and protection of the national economy.

He urged his successor to sustain capacity-building initiatives, deepen engagement with border communities, and ensure the completion of the Command’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project — the proposed Solar-Powered Healthcare Centre at Iragbiji.

The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages and reaffirmed commitment by both officers to service excellence, continuity, and the overall vision of the Service.
