
Following his retirement, Comptroller Abubakar Lawal Umar has handed over the leadership mantle of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone D of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to Comptroller Abdullahi Shuaibu Kaila.
The leadership transition took place at the Customs headquarters in Bauchi on Monday, December 8, 2025, marking a change of authority in line with the NCS’s strategic administrative procedures.
In his farewell remarks, Comptroller Umar expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the entire management team for the opportunity to serve and for their unwavering support during his tenure.
He also commended the dedication and resilience of the officers and men of the Unit, whose hard work was instrumental in the significant achievements recorded in anti-smuggling operations and revenue protection across the nine states within its jurisdiction, including Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Benue, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Plateau, and Nasarawa.
