CP Ojajuni Assumes Leadership of Ogun Police after IGP Dusu’s Deployment 

Following a deployment by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, CP Bode Ojajuni has assumed office as the Commissioner of Police for Ogun State.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, CP Ojajuni joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 1996, beginning his career as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Cadet ASP Course 19).

Ojajuni, who hails from Ondo State and was born on April 3, 1970, holds a Bachelor’s degree in History Education, an LL.B in Law, and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies. He is currently a doctoral (PhD) candidate.

“With 30 years of distinguished service, CP Bode Ojajuni brings a rich blend of operational, investigative, administrative, and international policing experience to the Command. He is widely respected for his open-door policy, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to community-oriented policing,” the statement said.

Prior to this appointment, he served as Commissioner of Police at INTERPOL (Nigeria National Central Bureau), Lagos, where he led efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates and strengthened transnational crime-fighting operations. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ogun State, playing a pivotal role in combating violent crimes. Between 2017 and 2019, he was Principal Staff Officer III to the Inspector-General of Police.

CP Ojajuni was Area Commander of Area “A” Command, Lion Building, Lagos, and was recognised as Area Commander of the Year in 2021. He also served as Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Lagos State Command, significantly improving police-public relations and enhancing the image of the Force. Earlier in his career, he served twice as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Bode Thomas Division, Surulere, Lagos.

He has held several Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) Squadron Command appointments, including 20 PMF Squadron, Ikeja, Lagos; 49 PMF Squadron, Epe, Lagos; 31 PMF Squadron, Asaba, Delta State; and 16 PMF Squadron, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He also served in the Adamawa State Police Command, including a posting in Mubi, where he gained valuable operational experience. His other strategic postings include Officer-in-Charge, Anti-Fraud Section, SCID Panti, Yaba; Chairman, Petroleum Task Force; and Commander, Border Patrol, Saki, Oyo State.

Ojajuni is a member of the INTERPOL African Committee, having been elected in August 2025 during the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, where Nigeria secured a seat on the committee. He has represented the Nigeria Police Force at the ECOWAS Security Summit in Lomé, Togo, and was also a member of the Federal Government delegation to the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech, Morocco, in November 2025.

He has participated in international workshops organised by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in the United States of America and attended the INTERPOL Instructors Development Course in Singapore. He has also undergone specialised security training in Israel and attended INTERPOL conferences in the United Arab Emirates and Morocco.

Similarly, he has attended professional courses at the INTERPOL Headquarters in Lyon, strengthening his expertise in global policing and intelligence coordination. He has facilitated the successful repatriation of high-profile fugitives to the People’s Republic of China and other countries across the globe, reinforcing international policing cooperation.

Earlier in March 2026, IGP Disu appointed him as Secretary to the Steering Committee on the Establishment of State Police.

“The report of the committee has since been submitted by the IGP to the Senate, underscoring the confidence reposed in his service delivery and integrity,” DSP Babaseyi confirmed.

CP Ojajuni has received several awards, including the African Nations Builders Award (Accra, Ghana, 2017), multiple recognitions from the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), and Distinguished Alumnus Awards from Lagos State University and Ekiti State University (formerly Ondo State University).

He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and has attended several tactical and strategic leadership courses at the Police Staff College, Jos and the National Institute of Police Studies, Abuja.

“CP Bode Ojajuni is happily married with children and remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accountability and service delivery in the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement added.
