Customs CG, Adeniyi Inspects Ibadan Rail Terminal, Eyes Enhanced Cargo Clearance with Bonded Warehouse

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on Tuesday, inspected the Ibadan Train Station Terminal, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and operational efficiency.

Comptroller Adeniyi visited the train station following a meeting with the Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command, Joseph Adelaja.

The visit aimed to inspect the Ibadan Train Station Terminal and assess a prospective private bonded warehouse, which is expected to significantly improve cargo clearance and ease trade logistics in the region.

“The warehouse will complement ongoing efforts to decongest seaports and expedite the movement of goods to their final destinations. This aligns with our broader goal of simplifying customs procedures and promoting legitimate trade,” the Customs boss said.

On his part, Adelaja disclosed that the Oyo/Osun Command generated ₦28.05 billion as revenue between February and May 2025, surpassing last year’s figure of ₦23.84 billion for the same period.

He also revealed the seizure of prohibited goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) exceeding ₦917 million.

Adelaja further highlighted the several challenges facing the Command, including manpower shortages, limited operational vehicles, and power supply issues at the barracks.

He called for the deployment of 80 junior officers and the provision of 16 additional vehicles to boost operational efficiency.

In response, the Comptroller General assured that the NCS’s headquarters would promptly consider the requests.

He stressed the importance of continuous professional development and urged officers to remain dedicated and knowledgeable in fulfilling the Service’s mandates.
