Nigerian artiste Adekunle Temitope, popularly known as Small Doctor, has expressed concern over the increasing rate of drug abuse among youths after a walk around his neighbourhood in Agege area of Lagos State.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, he acknowledged a content creator’s efforts in singing against drug abuse on social media, noting that this is a critical time when voices are needed the most.
“I strolled through hoods on Sunday and what I saw was heartbreaking. The rate young chaps use drugs nowadays is alarming,” the singer lamented.
He recalled that veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde had advised him six years ago to establish a rehabilitation centre, describing it as “the new oil”.
“That man saw the future. Most heartbreaking was when I arrived my hood, I saw some promising guys we grew up together sleeping while standing,” the Omo Iya Teacher crooner decried.
He added that some were even sleeping in “crazy postures”.
