The Federal Government (FG) has approved the increment of corps members’ monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.
FG explained that the rise is in line with the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, effective from July 2024.
According to a statement issued by the National Youth Service Corps’ (NYSC) Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, on Wednesday, the approval was made known in a letter signed by the Chairman, National Incomes and Wages Commission, Mr. Ekpo Nta, dated September 25, 2024.
The Director General (DG) of the NYSC, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed noted that he had earlier paid an advocacy visit to Mr. Nta, soliciting for a robust welfare package for corpers.
Gen. Ahmed expressed gratitude to the FG for the timely gesture, stressing that he is optimistic that it will not only bring the much needed succour to the corps members’, but also boost their morale and motivate them to do even more, in their service to the nation.
