The President of Women in Maritime Africa (WIMA Nigeria), Mrs. Nwaeze Theodora, today marked her 100 days in office, reflecting on a journey defined by purpose, collaboration, and strategic engagement within Nigeria’s maritime sector.
In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mrs Lola Adesokan, the President expressed deep appreciation to stakeholders across the maritime industry whose support and partnership have contributed to a meaningful and impactful start to her administration.
“This journey has been a testament to trust and commitment. I sincerely acknowledge and appreciate all stakeholders who have made these first 100 days worthwhile. It is a continuous work in progress”, she stated.
She also extended heartfelt gratitude to members of the association: “To my fellow executives and members of WIMA Nigeria, I thank you for trusting me with this mandate. Your support remains the backbone of this administration”.
She said since assuming office, the administration has remained firmly guided by its four strategic pillars — Empowerment, Collaboration, Innovation, and National Visibility, which have shaped its activities and engagements within the first 100 days.
Nwaeze disclosed that as part of its commitment to purposeful leadership, WIMA Nigeria organised a Leadership Retreat involving executives, ambassadors, and key stakeholders. The retreat served as a platform to clearly define priorities and align goals for the administration.
“It is often said that when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. This retreat was critical in ensuring clarity of vision and direction for our collective efforts”, the President noted.
She stated that the administration has also undertaken several courtesy visits to key maritime institutions and stakeholders, reinforcing partnerships and strengthening collaborative efforts that align with WIMA Nigeria’s mandate for growth and visibility.
According to her, WIMA Nigeria has actively participated in major industry engagements, including the International Women’s Day 2026 celebration organised by Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), further amplifying the voice and contributions of women within the maritime sector.
Reflecting on the journey so far, the President emphasised the role of faith, resilience, and shared commitment: “God has been our source of wisdom and strength to carry the responsibility entrusted to us. These 100 days have only strengthened our resolve to do more.”
Reaffirming the administration’s focus, she stated that WIMA Nigeria will continue to prioritise its core agenda of empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and national visibility, ensuring that women in maritime are positioned for greater impact and recognition.
“This 100 days milestone is not an endpoint, but a beginning. The best is yet to come”, she added.
