The Governor of Abia State, Mr. Alex Otti has inaugurated the reconstruction of phases 1 and 2 of the 13.95km Onuinyang–Okporoenyi–Oboro–Ikwuano Road.
Mr. Otti , who disclosed this on Thursday noted that the road connects the central and northern senatorial districts, linking tens of thousands of farmers to urban markets within and outside the state.
“2025 marks a turning point for millions of Ndi Abia across our 17 LGAs and 184 wards, spanning over 500 communities. From the start, we pledged that no part of the State would be neglected. Our goal is to revive the levers of our economy and create an environment that supports the dreams and aspirations of our hardworking population,” he stated.
The governor said that the 13-kilometre stretch is scheduled for timely completion and is designed to endure environmental factors.
He mentioned that it will facilitate the transport of people and agricultural commodities, boost inter-community trade, and enhance social interactions among individuals, families, and clans.
“From Nunya to Abam, Uzuakoli to Isuochi, Umuala to Umuopara, and across other semi-urban and rural communities, we are expanding opportunities for farmers and other players in the agro-allied business ecosystem,” Governor Otti stressed.
He extended gratitude to the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Don Otumchere Oti, and his team for their professional direction in the road infrastructure restoration and expansion agenda.
“I expect them to maintain this momentum in the New Year and ensure this project is delivered on schedule and in line with design specifics. There should be no room for compromise, laxity, or breaches,” he added.
