Governorship Election: INEC Chairman, Yakubu Arrives Edo for Readiness Assessment Visit

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and his team on Monday arrived Edo State for a readiness assessment visit ahead of the governorship election slated for September 21, 2024.

According to INEC, Mr. Yakubu will also participate in a series of engagements during his 4-day stay in the state.

The Commission reiterated that the visit is part of the final preparations for the Edo State Governorship election, noting that the assessment aims to ensure that all necessary measures are in place for a successful election.

Yakubu and his group were received by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo State, Dr. Anugbum Onuaha, Administrative Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbodu, and other senior staff from Edo State INEC.

He was accompanied by the supervising National Commissioner, Prof. Rhoda Gumus; National Commissioners; Major General A. B Alkali (retd), Mr. Sam Olumekun, Dr. Baba Bila, Chief Technical Adviser to the Hon. Chairman, Prof. Bolade Eyinla.

Others are Chief Press Secretary to the Hon. Chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi; Special Adviser to the Hon. Chairman, Prof. M. Kuna; Ag. Director ICT, Engr. Bayode Lawrence; Dr. Ajoku G.N Director (Health & Services); Ag. Director Operations Hakeem Adigun to mention a few.
