The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commissioned 59 Armoured Toyota Hilux Vehicles to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The vehicles were commissioned at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, September 26, 2025.
According to the Force Spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the purpose-built vehicles are designed to withstand hostile fire, endure harsh terrains, and provide speed, durability, and protection.
CSP Hundeyin stated that the development marks a significant step in equipping the Police Force‘s tactical and special units for dominance in high-risk field operations.
In his address, IGP Egbetokun emphasised that the credibility of the NPF will continually be earned through measurable results delivered, noting that the reinforcement comes at a critical time when insecurity is evolving in both complexity and intensity across the African continent, with Nigeria not exempt.
He explained that the newly inducted vehicles are not ceremonial displays but strategic reinforcements in a broader framework aimed at strengthening operations, enhancing intelligence gathering, and enforcing accountability across all levels of the Force.
While addressing commanders and tactical operatives, the Police boss directed that the vehicles must never be left idle while citizens face danger.
Egbetokun stressed that every deployment must be lawful, proportionate, and decisive, warning that criminal elements must no longer find safe haven in any part of the country.
He assured Nigerians that, in due time, the public will bear witness to declining crime rates and increased confidence in the Force.
