The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commissioned a police mechanical workshop equipped with cutting-edge facilities and technology in Dei-Dei, Abuja on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the workshop is a critical support unit of the Force which would ensure the optimal working condition of operational vehicles, enabling timely responses to emergencies and effective police operations.
ACP Adejobi said that the support unit would maintain the operational readiness of all tactical and operational vehicles, minimising downtime and ensuring mobility during critical operations.
According to the statement, IGP Egbetokun also commissioned 40 tactical and operational vehicles, including anti-riot water cannon trucks, and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The IGP stated that the vehicles will further augment the Force’s arsenal, boosting its operational efficiency in line with his commitment and broader initiative aimed at improving the capacity and effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
He explained that both commissioning efforts are vital to ensuring that officers of the NPF are adequately equipped and prepared to confront security challenges, thereby enhancing their ability to serve and protect the public.
The police chief reassured members of the public that the Police Force remains committed to responding effectively to all security threats.
He warned individuals and groups threatening the peace and tranquillity of the country that the security agency will pursue them proactively, strategically, and without hesitation – and will run them out of town.
