Kano Police Arrest 15 Suspects for Armed Robbery, Thuggery 

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 15 suspects in connection with armed robbery and thuggery in the state, including Mu’azu Barga, who has been linked to various cases of robbery and violent attacks.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the operation was carried out by Tactical teams in Sheka, Ja’oji, and Kurna Quarters on July 26, 2025.

“This is part of the ongoing ‘Operation Kukan Kura’, a special security initiative launched by the Command CP to detect and proactively nip in the bud any threat of criminal activity, aligning with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to promote community-oriented policing.

“The suspects, aged between 14 and 28 years, were arrested in possession of four (04) robbed mobile phones belonging to different victims. The suspects confessed to engaging in criminal activities, including mobile phone robbery and theft.

“Part of the operation led to the arrest of a suspected notorious serial armed robber, Mu’azu Barga, who is linked to different cases of armed robbery and is responsible for leading a series of violent attacks and rivalry Daba fights within Kano Metropolis,” SP Kiyawa stated.

He noted that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

Reacting to the crackdown, the Kano Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the Tactical teams’ operatives and declared war against all forms of thuggery-related crimes.

CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.
