The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects identified as Umar Aliyu and Sabiu Kabiru for the theft of various items in the state, including mobile phones, debit cards, and power bank.
Aliyu (25) and Kabiru (27) — both residents of Gunduwawa Village in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) at about 3:00 p.m. on August 7, 2025, following credible intelligence and the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
SP Kiyawa highlighted the recovered items following a thorough search, including 23 mobile phones (10 Android phones and 13 keypad phones), three Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, 17 Opay instant debit cards, three MP3 players, eight mobile phone batteries, and one power bank.
“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to conspiring and breaking into a business center in Dinyar Madiga Village, Takai Local Government Area, where they allegedly stole the items. However, further investigation revealed inconsistencies in their claim, and it was determined that the stolen items were not taken from the stated location.
