
The Kano State Police Command has announced that two suspects, Muntari Shu’aibu and Imrana Rabi’u, arrested in connection with the trafficking of suspected illicit drugs (tramadol) have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Shuaibu, 28, and Rabiu, 25, were caught in possession of six bales of tramadol (cartons) worth over ₦150,000,000 million.
Kano Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori disclosed this during a press briefing on Wednesday.
CP Bakori said that the Command nabbed the suspects in a skillfully coordinated, intelligence-led sting operation following a tip-off.
“This is evidence that the Command’s efforts to curb enablers of violent crimes, which are majorly illicit drug trafficking and abuse in Kano State are yielding significant results. We therefore, remain committed and determined to use all resources within our reach to guarantee the safety and well-being of the citizens.
“Today, we are delighted to hand over the suspects and exhibits to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command, for further investigation and prosecution.
“This is in line with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, directives and policy on inclusive policing, and in the spirit of strengthening inter-agency synergy among security organizations,” he stated.
The Police Commissioner noted that the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the state and country at large remains a collective one.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to collaborating with other security agencies in combating all forms of crimes and criminality in the state.
Bakori appealed to members of the public to continue supporting the security agency’s efforts by providing valuable information.
