The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the rescue of three abducted victims, identified as Muhammad Nasamu Namata, Gide Namata, and Hamidu Alhaji Namani.
Namata (25), Gide (20), and Namani (35) were abducted at about 2:00 p.m. on July 27, 2025, when a gang of kidnappers armed with sophisticated weapons invaded Sangara Village in Shanga Local Government Area of the state and took them to an unknown destination.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, August 1, 2025.
“Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Shanga, mobilized a combined team of security personnel comprising the Police, Army, NSCDC, vigilantes and hunters for a search and rescue mission. While the operation was ongoing, they trailed the kidnappers at Shanga hills and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.
“Due to the high firepower of the combined security personnel, the suspected kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled into the forest with fatal wounds. The victims have successfully been rescued on the 31st July, 2025 at about 1530hrs, and currently receiving treatment at a facility before being reunited with their families,” the statement noted.
Reacting to the successful rescue, Kebbi Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the bravery, commitment, and professionalism displayed by the combined security team.
CP Sani urged them to sustain the synergy among the various agencies, affirming that no single security outfit can succeed alone.
He reiterated the Command’s readiness to safeguard the lives and property of Kebbi residents and called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station for prompt response.
