Maritime Cup 2023: Customs Defeats NAGAFF, Tackles NPA in Final Showdown

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) team has defeated the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) in the semi-final game of the 2023 edition of the Maritime Cup.

Superintendent Sani Buhari scored the match’s only goal for the NCS to secure a place in the final and an opportunity to lay their hands on the coveted trophy.

It was a tough encounter and a well deserved victory against a hard fighting NAGAFF side, in a match only lasted for 59 minutes on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

In a press release signed by Superintendent of Customs Akinwale Fatoki, the semi-final match was initially scheduled to kick off at 3pm local time, but was delayed by approximately 20 minutes due to a protest by the NCS team.

The Customs team alleged that the NAGAFF team had mercenaries among its players.

However, the match proceeded after the Match Commissioner advised the Team Manager of NCS to seek official redress through the Technical Committee of the Maritime Cup.

The NCS team, known for its resilience, is set to face the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) in the final match on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Stables Sports Complex in Surulere.
