Maritime Police, NCJTFLCA Strengthen Partnership to Enhance Port Security, Compliance

The Maritime Police Command and the National Compliance Joint Task Force of Licensed Clearing Agents (NCJTFLCA) have reinforced their partnership to improve security and compliance across ports in the country.

This renewed collaboration was marked by a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, at the Force Headquarters Annex, Kam Salem House, Lagos on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Adebayo Rasheed, the delegation was led by the National President of the Task Force, Dr. Basil Nwolisa.

ASP Rasheed noted that the visit aimed to strengthen collaborative efforts in ensuring compliance, transparency, and accountability within Nigeria’s maritime and logistics sectors.

“The delegation also formally introduced the newly inaugurated national officers of the Task Force to the Maritime Police Command,” the statement noted.

In his welcome remarks, AIG Garba acknowledged the importance of regulatory partnerships in the maritime industry and commended the Task Force for its commitment to upholding lawful practices in forwarding, clearing, and logistics operations across the nation’s ports.

He emphasised the Command’s readiness to work with credible stakeholders who are equally committed to curbing economic sabotage, enhancing port security, and promoting professionalism among licensed agents.

The AIG also urged the Task Force to ensure that its activities are guided by due process and lawful enforcement mechanisms.

In response, Dr. Nwolisa expressed gratitude to AIG Garba for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Task Force’s willingness to support the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), through the Maritime Police Command, in sanitising the industry through information sharing, compliance monitoring, and ethical advocacy.
