The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, on Monday, hosted the suspended lawmakers from the Rivers State House of Assembly to a dinner in the United Kingdom (UK).
Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister made this known in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He wrote: “Yesterday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State House of Assembly members who are in the United Kingdom for Legislative Capacity Building, to a dinner.
“Wike left Nigeria on Sunday night after visiting his political friends and associates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.”
Olayinka had on Saturday disclosed that the members of Rivers HoA were in UK for Legislative Training.
He stated that the day one of the 5-day training took place in Central London and focused on “Legislative Dynamics in the Presidential and Parliamentary Systems”.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 18 declared a state of emergency in Rivers State due to political crisis.
President Tinubu also suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Mrs. Ngozi Odu, and all members of the HoA for 6 months, leading to the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as the state’s sole administrator for the period of time.
