Newly Appointed DSS DG, Ajayi Assumes Office, Urges Staff to Remain Committed

The newly appointed Director General (DG) of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has charged the staff of the intelligence agency to remain committed in executing their tasks.

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday approved the appointment of Mr. Ajayi as the new DG of the DSS following the sack of Mr. Yusuf Bichi.

According to Mr. Peter Afunanya, the Director, PR and Strategic Communications of the agency in a statement released on Thursday, Mr. Ajayi, who assumed office on Wednesday was received by Mr. Bichi who briefed him on related issues as they recalled moments that they worked together in the past – and addressed the management and staff of the Service thereafter.

In his address, the former DG urged the personnel to cooperate with the newly appointed boss in order to achieve success in the task ahead.

On his part, Mr. Ajayi stressed the importance of unity of purpose among staff – and enjoined them to remain disciplined and professional in discharging their duties.

He assured that he would work with relevant stakeholders with utmost commitment and deep sense of responsibility so as to surmount challenges confronting Nigeriaโ€™s economic, political and security environments.

He disclosed that the objective is to achieve peace and stability necessary for development.

Consequently, the immediate past DG handed over the Service flag and other insignias of office to Mr. Ajayi, after which he took a tour of the National Headquarters where he visited some sections of the agency.

He encouraged the staff on duty to remain vigilant, resourceful, dedicated and loyal to the Service, constituted authorities and Nigeria at large.

He equally pledged to refocus the Service towards covertness and likelihood of studied silence over certain matters.
