Nigeria Customs Launches Reputation Management Guide in Zone A

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched its strategic reputation management campaign in Zone ‘A’, aimed at transforming institutions, enhancing public trust, and improving service delivery.

The NCS formally flagged the initiative at the Apapa Area Command in Lagos on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Charles Orbih, described the development as a turning point in redefining the identity of Customs officers in Nigeria.

ACG Orbih said: “Understanding what we deal with is fundamental to our success. Reputation, as defined in this guide, is a collective perspective about institutional integrity and performance.

“For the Nigeria Customs Service, a strong reputation enhances public trust, encourages inter-agency and international cooperation, boosts morale among staff while improving citizen engagement.”

In his remarks, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, affirmed that the Command’s officers, alongside other commands within the zone, are fully prepared to uphold the principles outlined in the guide.

“I want to assure you that, on behalf of officers and men of Zone ‘A’, we stand committed to abiding by every principle being taught in this programme,” Comptroller Olomu stated.

The event also featured presentations by three facilitators on reputation management principles, followed by an interactive session that reinforced professionalism and patriotism among participants.
