The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, on Wednesday donated ₦15 million to the School of Midwifery of Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku, Owerri, Imo State capital.
Mr. Obi disclosed this on X (formerly Twitter), noting that advancement of healthcare and education in the society has continued to be a driving force for him as it remains the main indexes of development.
This, he said, is the basis that informed his visit to the institution to make the contribution.
“Over the years, I have consistently advocated for increased and more strategic investments in the critical sectors of education and healthcare – sectors that form the bedrock of any thriving nation,” Obi wrote.
The former Anambra State Governor mentioned that he will continue to emphasise the urgent need to encourage the training and empowerment of healthcare professionals, whose roles are indispensable to national and global development.
“During my visit, I had an engaging and enlightening interaction with the students of the institution. As part of my support, I made a donation of ₦15 million to assist the school in its noble mission of producing well-trained and highly competent healthcare workers,” he stated.
The politician added: “Together, through sustained investment and shared commitment, we can build a healthier, more educated, and more hopeful nation.”
