President Tinubu Extends Customs CG Adeniyi’s Tenure

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended the tenure of the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, by one year.

The initial tenure, which was expected to expire on August 31, 2025, has been extended to consolidate CGC Adeniyi‘s ongoing reforms and to complete critical initiatives of President Tinubu’s administration.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Onanuga highlighted ongoing reforms in the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), including the modernisation of the Service, the implementation of the National Single Window Project (NSW), and the execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.

He noted that President Tinubu recognises the CGC’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service.

“The President is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security,” the statement added.
