Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has described the sack of Mele Kyari, the Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s smartest move thus far.
Thelensng reported earlier on Wednesday that President Tinubu restructured the NNPCL board, replacing Kyari with Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the new Group CEO, while Ahmadu Musa Kida was appointed as the new Non-Executive Chairman following the sack of Chief Pius Akinyelure.
Reacting to the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Fayose stated that the shake up should be extended to other government agencies.
He wrote: “Removal of the NNPCL CEO, Mele Kyari, is a welcome development. It is the smartest move ever by President Tinubu.”
The politician expressed hope that the move will bring a better lease of life to the NNPCL in particular and Nigerians in general.
“This same courage to wield the big stick should also be extended to other system with system so rotten as the NNPCL,” he added.
