SAHCO Secures Sole Ground Handling Role at Ogun Airport

Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has strengthened its footprint in Nigeria’s aviation sector, emerging as the exclusive ground handling service provider at the newly commissioned Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State.
The airport was officially inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure development and positioning Ogun State as a growing hub for passenger and cargo operations.
SAHCO’s appointment as the sole ground handling company at the facility highlights its standing in the industry, with stakeholders citing its track record in operational efficiency, safety compliance and service delivery.
Speaking on the development, Chairman of SAHCO, Barr. Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, expressed pride in the Company’s role in supporting the successful launch of the airport.
He noted that the opportunity to serve as the sole ground handling partner reflects the trust placed in SAHCO’s capabilities and its consistent track record in delivering efficient and reliable aviation services across the country.
“This milestone further reinforces SAHCO’s commitment to supporting the growth of Nigeria’s aviation sector through continuous investment in modern equipment, skilled personnel, and innovative service solutions.
“Being selected as the sole ground handler at such a landmark event highlights our readiness to deliver seamless operations at new and existing airports nationwide,” he stated.
Barr. Dr Afolabi further emphasised that with partnership with Allied Air, a Nigerian owned Cargo Airline of repute, SAHCO is poised to provide efficient cargo operations to boost seamless cargo processing, particularly for time-sensitive and high value goods at the modern warehouse complex for both import and export.
This is expected to significantly drive capacity, especially for agriculture, manufacturing and e-commerce.
SAHCO provided a full range of ground handling services during the commissioning, including ramp handling, passenger facilitation and cargo logistics, ensuring hitch-free operations.
As the aviation industry continues to expand, SAHCO says it remains committed to driving operational excellence and contributing meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s air transport ecosystem.
Industry observers say the new airport is expected to boost regional connectivity, stimulate economic activities and attract investments into Ogun State and its environs.
With SAHCO as its ground handling partner from inception, the Gateway International Airport is projected to deliver efficient and high-quality services as Nigeria continues to expand its aviation network.
