Shehu Sani Backs Defence Minister Musa, Says Calls for Matawalle’s Sack Politically Motivated
A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has expressed support for the new Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, stating that he will lead the Ministry in the right direction.
ThelensNG reported on Tuesday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated General Musa as the new Minister of Defence after the resignation of Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar on Monday.
Reacting to the development on Wednesday, Sani also asserted that the call for the sack of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammad Matawalle, is politically motivated.
“With Christopher Musa taking charge of the Defence Ministry, I’m confident that he will steer the Ministry in the right direction.The call for the sacking of the Minister of State for Defence Matawalle, is undoubtedly politically motivated, mischievous, and unnecessary,” he said.
According to him, Matawalle was instrumental in securing the freedom of the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls and other victims, noting that he should be appreciated and encouraged.
He also affirmed that the leaderships of the military and other security services are still directly responsible for battle against criminal bandits and terrorists.
