Former President, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has advised Nigerians to remain hopeful for better days and support the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Buhari congratulated President Tinubu on his mid-term anniversary, noting that as the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the government celebrate, the country should remember that leadership is a continuous journey.
He made these remarks in a congratulatory message to the President on his two-year anniversary, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday.
The former President called for steadfast support for the APC government as it marks its second year in offIce, explaining that reforms achieve success gradually and not overnight.
He warned that necessary reforms and desired changes must not fall victim to “nettlesome domestic politics.”
Buhari expressed support for the administration’s ongoing efforts to curb poverty and inflation, affirming that the poorest families have been affected the most.
However, he stated that the task of reducing poverty and inflation, which is immense, must not be left solely to the government.
“The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can,” the former President said and urged Nigerians to “remain optimistic and confident about the country’s future.”
He added: “Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy. I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care.”
