Tambuwal Dumps PDP for ADC, Cites Party Divisions

The Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and aligned with the African Democratic Party (ADC), citing internal crises and divisions within the party.

Tambuwal officially resigned from the PDP on Wednesday, acknowledging that the party has been a significant part of his political journey.

He expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities it gave him to serve Nigeria, including as Speaker of the House of Representatives and later as Governor of Sokoto State.

“However, the persistent internal crisis, leadership disagreements, and growing divisions within the PDP have made it increasingly difficult to continue my membership of the party. These developments have unfortunately weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party and have necessitated this decision,” the Senator said.

Tambuwal disclosed that his decision was guided by his belief that Nigeria needs a stronger political platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development.

He reiterated his commitment to serving the country and upholding the ideals of democracy, justice, and national unity.
