Tin Can Customs Boss, Onyeka Intensifies Partnership with Security Agencies for National Development

The Controller of Tin Can Island Port Command, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Frank Onyeka has strengthened partnership with security agencies to achieve national development.

Comptroller Onyeka stressed the need for improved collaboration when he hosted the Commanding Officer, Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) Badagry, Navy Captain Omotayo Busuyi Oyeleye at his office in Lagos.

This is according to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Oscar Ivara on Tuesday.

In his remarks, Onyeka explained that to achieve a safe and prosperous nation, all security agencies in the country must prioritise national security and reinforce collaboration among themselves.

He noted that beyond the core functions of revenue generation, trade facilitation and suppression of smuggling activities, the Command also “aims to build a strong and formidable synergy with all security agencies in order to deter criminal elements from perpetuating their nefarious activities through the seaport.”

The Comptroller described the actions of the smugglers as “detrimental to national development” – and commended the efforts of the Nigerian Navy for providing adequate maritime security against sea robberies.

On his part, Captain Oyeleye lauded the NCS for always rising to the occasion of joint patrol, stressing that such input by the Service has always been pivotal to the success of joint operations.

Similarly, Comptroller Onyeka paid a familiarisation visit to the Controllers of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Services PTML and Tin Can Island Commands at the quarantine office in Tin Can, Lagos.

During his engagement, he reassured the agency of continued collaboration and expressed commitment to integrating the quarantine service into the Command’s activities for better synergy.
