
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the successful recovery of 19 stolen vehicles across various locations of the country’s capital between January and February 2025.
According to FCT Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the vehicles were reported stolen and subsequently recovered in Jos, Niger, Kaduna, and the FCT respectively.
Adeh highlighted the divisions and units of the recovery distribution, including Maitama Division (1 vehicle recovered); Mpape Division (3 vehicles recovered); Bwari Division (1 vehicle recovered); Central Police Station (2 vehicles recovered) and Trademore Division (2 vehicles recovered).
Others are Mabushi Division (2 vehicles recovered), Anti-Car Theft Unit ( 1 vehicle recovered), Utako Division (2 vehicles recovered), Gwarimpa Division (1 vehicles recovered), Dirumi Division (2 vehicles recovered) and Kubwa Division (2 vehicles recovered).
“The FCT Police Command remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of residents and protecting their property. In light of ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft, CP Olatunji Disu, psc, urges the public to adopt proactive measures to secure their vehicles. The installation of vehicle tracking devices is strongly recommended to significantly enhance the likelihood of swift recovery in the event of theft,” the statement noted.
The spokesperson advised vehicle owners to consider the implementation of supplementary security devices, including steering wheel locks, pedal locks, alarm systems and immobilisers.
She also encouraged vehicle owners to avoid parking in isolated areas, maintain vigilance at all times, and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
