Kano Police Arrest 4 Suspected Bandits, Recover ₦1.02m, Ammunition, Others

The Kano State Police Command on Thursday arrested 4 suspected bandits at Chula Filling Station, Hotoro Quarters area of the state.

The suspects are Shukurana Salihu, 25, Rabi’u Dahiru, 35, Ya’u Idris, 30, all from Katsina State and Muktar Sani, 30, who hails from Yandodo Hotoro Quarters, Kano.

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Public Relations Officer of the Command disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that they were apprehended based on credible intelligence that they were in Kano with the intent to purchase an AK-47 rifle.

“On 6th March 2025, at about 2:00 pm, a team of Police detectives led by SP Ahmad Abdullahi, Officer-in-Charge of Jar Kuka Out-Post, Kano, apprehended four suspected bandits at Chula Filling Station, Hotoro Quarters, Kano,” Kiyawa stated.

He highlighted the items recovered upon thorough search, including 3 locally made revolver pistols, 12 live ammunition of different calibers and 3 cartridges.

Others are 24 pieces of bearing balls, 4 knives, 1 cutlass, ₦1,028,800 cash and some suspected charms.

“The suspects are currently undergoing discreet investigation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and will be charged to court for prosecution upon completion of the investigation,” he said.

The spokesperson noted that the achievement is a testament to the Command’s commitment to tackling the infiltration of banditry into the state and other forms of criminality.

He affirmed the support and cooperation of the public in the Command’s efforts to maintain law and order.
