Unauthorize Connection of Any Meter Attracts Jail Term, Ikeja Electric Warns

Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) has warned customers to desist from illegitimate connection of any meter, stressing that the act attracts three years imprisonment.

IKEDC made this known in a notice posted on X, formerly Twitter on Tuesday.

“Any unauthorize connection or reconnection or altering of any meter attracts a jail term of not more than three years or fine not exceeding ₦500,000 with an additional fine of ₦10,000 for every continuing day of the offence,” the notice reads in part.

It also encouraged consumers to say no to illegal connections and meter tampering.
