AHSOSA Awards Cash Prizes to Outstanding Students, Teachers at 2024 Founder’s Day

The Ajangbadi High School Old Students’ Association (AHSOSA) has awarded cash prizes and plaques to students for academic excellence and character during the 2023/2024 session.

Outstanding students from Junior Secondary School (JSS) one to three and Senior Secondary School (SSS) one to three were celebrated for showing great promise during the year under review.

This was at the 2024 founder’s day anniversary on Thursday, December 5, 2024 in Lagos.

Some exceptional teachers and non-teaching staff were also recognised with plaques and cash prizes during the ceremony.

The recipients for academic excellence include best student in science (SS1) – Abdullahi Fatimoh Wuraola; best student in Commercial (SS1) – Ibrahim Ummulkhair; best student in Science (SS2) – Joshua Samson Anuoluwapo; best student in Arts (SS2) – Fasanya Amirat and best student in Commercial (SS2) – Olarewaju Aishat.

Others are best student in Science (SS3) – Iwaeni Oluwaseun Festus; best student in Arts (SS3) – Dike Chidimma Favour; best overall student (SS3) – Shuaib Halimot; best student in JSS 3 (BECE) – Olufakun Timilehin; best student in JSS 2 – Abdulrofi’u Mustapha and best Student in JSS – Hassan Abdullahi.

The winners for the outstanding students in character category are: Well-behaved student (JSS) – Ajadi Ayomide Favour; neatest student (JSS) – Oluwatosin Samuel Goodness, most punctual (JSS) – Adisa Halimot; most punctual Senior School – Abubakar Musharaf; well-behaved Senior School – Tajudeen Halimot Funmilayo and neatest student Senior School – Abolaji Deborah.

For the Award of Excellence for staff: Best teacher (Senior School) – Agada Peter Oko; best non-teaching staff (Senior School) – Mrs. Oyewole Mutiat Adewunmi; best teacher (Junior School) – Ogidi S. O, as well as best non-teaching staff (Junior School) – Ajomagberin Habibat.

While the cash prize ranges from N20,000 to N25,000, the best overall student in SSS 3 went home with N100,000.

Speaking at the event, President General of AHSOSA, Engr.Tokunboh Owolabi advised the students to be good ambassadors of Ajangbadi High School anywhere they find themselves in the world.

While noting that the association will continue to contribute its quota by supporting the students, he encouraged them to be serious with their academics.

His words: “In all you do, make sure that obedience is your watchword. Be focused and don’t be lazy if you want to go far in life. This is just a starting point. The journey is still very far. Try to make your hay while the sun is still shining”.

“That you didn’t win an award today does not mean you are not good enough. The message we are passing is for you to work harder and get ready for next year. Put in your best academically”.

The event also featured career talk anchored by the Assistant Secretary General of AHSOSA, Barrister Kolawole Ahmed.

Speaking on the topic: “Suicide”, he counseled students not to see ending their lives as the way out of academic and other life setbacks; adding that failure is not the end of one’s life.

Ahmed admonished them to stay off drugs and always talk to their parents; trusted family members or teachers when facing challenging times.
