Oyo/Osun Customs, International Breweries Deepen Collaboration on Excise Compliance 

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reinforced its collaboration with International Breweries Plc to enhance the Command’s revenue generation.

The partnership was strengthened when the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Wale Moses Adewole, paid a courtesy visit to the brewery plant in Ilesa, Osun State, on Tuesday.

Speaking during the visit, DC Adewole emphasised the importance of compliance with extant excise laws and regulations, noting that adherence is critical to revenue generation and national economic stability.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to facilitating legitimate trade while ensuring strict enforcement of government fiscal policies.

Adewole commended International Breweries Plc for its contributions to the economy, particularly in employment generation and its contribution to the Command’s revenue profile.

He also encouraged the management to sustain its level of compliance and maintain transparency in its operations.

In his response, the manager of the Ilesa plant, Mr. Emmanuel Onabanjo, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and impactful.

Onabanjo reaffirmed the factory’s commitment to maintaining a cordial working relationship with the NCS and pledged continued compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The Command reiterated its dedication to stakeholder engagement, trade facilitation, and enforcement of fiscal policies in line with the mandate of the Service.

The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to engage in constructive dialogue, address operational challenges, and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation.
