NAFDAC Shuts Illegal Cosmetic Production Facility in Lagos, Seizes Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) announced on Wednesday that it shut down an illegal cosmetic production facility in Ipaye, Iba, Lagos State.

NAFDAC disclosed this on X (formerly Twitter), stating that unregistered cosmetic products were manufactured in the facility.

“Following extensive surveillance, NAFDAC officials raided the premises, apprehended staff members, and confiscated various products, including body washes, cleansing soaps, lightening creams, children’s skincare items, and packaging materials,” the agency said.

It emphasised that the facility has been sealed to halt further production, adding that one individual is currently in custody for further investigation.

The regulatory body reiterated its commitment to protecting public health by clamping down on unregulated and unsafe products in the markets.
