Nigerians Blast LGA Chairman for Appointing 130 Aides

The appointment of 130 Special Assistants (SAs) by the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has garnered criticisms from the Nigerian public.

Ihunwo announced the appointments on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, revealing the names of all the appointees.

Some of them include Helen Nyekwere, Josephine Wogu, Daisy Worgu, Wagwu Amaoge Hilda and Ogbonna Ezinne Stella.

The Chairman urged the appointees to serve diligently in the interest of the LGA.

However, Nigerians on X expressed their displeasure over the number of aides appointed by Ihunwo.

@DesmondTobeOris said: “This is very unnecessary and if you need 130 people to assist you in governance to function properly then you have no business being there.”

“What’s with you people and flamboyance? A Local Government Chairman with 130 SA…as in 130 persons serving him. What then would be your duty?” @EmekaEK asked.

@Onsogbu wrote: “Obio/Akpor LGA in Rivers State has 17 wards, yet the chairman employs 130 personal assistants.”

“That is how Nigerian politicians used to loot money, how can someone have personal assistance up to 130,” @HarryAgada said.

@realTobiAkinbo stated: “Na the whole local government dey specially assist you so oo.”

@Inno4Chi wrote: “Trump nor get this number o”

“Even football team no reach this one,” @Timmydennyd said.
