The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah has signed the host state agreement with the Federal Government (FG) for the 2026 National Sports Festival (NSF).
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, granting Enugu the full hosting rights for the prestigious event.
Governor Mbah, during the signing ceremony assured the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, and other stakeholders that Enugu is ready to deliver an unforgettable festival.
“We are not just hosting; we are setting a new standard. We are committed to establishing a brand-new Games Village in Awgu, a fully renovated Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium with state-of-the-art facilities, as well as additional world-class sports infrastructure to give our athletes and visitors a lifetime of great memories.
“Enugu, a state with over 115 years of rich history, will rise to this occasion and showcase our role as a hub of opportunity, excellence, and hospitality,” he said.
The Governor expressed determination to leave a lasting legacy that will boost tourism, investment, and development in the state, adding that “let the countdown to an extraordinary 2026 National Sports Festival begin.”
