Nigerian Footballer Secures Sevilla Trial after 100,000 Reposts Task on X

Nigerian amateur footballer, Ola has secured a trial with Spanish club, Sevilla following a challenge on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) upon request.

Ola had on Monday, January 20 on his X handle @TheRealOlagreat posted and tagged the club requesting for a trial with the team.

“@SevillaFC_ENG How many reposts for tryout with your team?,” he asked at about 12:01 pm.

In its response two minutes later, the club said “100k”.

Following the reaction from the club, Nigerians rallied behind Ola until he surpassed the 100,000 retweets mark.

Fast forward to Thursday, January 30, the seven-time UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League champions posted: “Hello, @TheRealOlagreat. Chimezie Paul Obi, our new Nigerian player from @Academy_SFC, has a special message for you.”

Obi’s words in the video reads: “Hello, my friend Ola. I’m Obi Paul, a Nigerian player for Sevilla FC D, and we would love for you to come and take a trial with our international team. We’re waiting for you.”

“Ola Great had challenged Sevilla FC’s English account on X (formerly Twitter), asking how many times his post would need to be shared to secure a trial with the club. After meeting the required number of shares, Sevilla FC has opened the door for him to try out for Sevilla FC D, the club’s international team,” the club further disclosed in a statement.

The footballer, who participated in the recently concluded Lagos Liga tournament, representing Superstar Football Club, now has his request granted, and with a chance to fulfil his dream.
