Africa Must Shift to Exporting Value-Added Products for Wealth Creation – AfDB President, Adesina

The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, has said that Africa must shift its focus from exporting raw materials to value-added products in order to create wealth.

Mr. Adesina stated this on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, noting that the export of raw materials is linked to poverty.

He wrote: “Africa must end the exports of its raw materials. The export of raw materials is the door to poverty.

“The export of value-added products is the highway to wealth. And Africa is tired of being poor.”

The AfDB provides financial support to African governments and private sector entities investing in regional member countries.
