AIG Police Maritime Command, Garba Hosts APFFLON Excos, Pledges to Support Growth of Sector

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Musa Garba has assured maritime stakeholders of the Command’s unwavering support and commitment to professionalism in the sector.

This is as he underscored the importance of effective prosecution of offenders within the maritime sector as a deterrent to others seeking to undermine Nigeria’s economic security.

AIG Garba made this known while playing host to executives of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) at the Maritime Police Command Headquarters in Lagos on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Adebayo Rasheed disclosed this in a statement made available to Thelensng on Thursday.

The AIG reiterated the command’s readiness to collaborate with sister agencies and maritime associations to ensure safety, security, and economic growth within the maritime domain.

The APFFLON delegation, led by its President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, said the visit was aimed at strengthening the long-standing relationship between the association and the Maritime Police Command, while also familiarising themselves with the current leadership and direction of the Command.

Ogunojemite acknowledged the key role the Maritime Police Command played during APFFLON’s early days. He stressed the need for continued partnership, while noting that the maritime sector is highly specialized and requires officers who are equipped with requisite knowledge and abilities to effectively maintain law and order within the Command’s Areas of Responsibility.

APFFLON also presented a Maiden Award of Excellence to the AIG Garba in recognition of his dedication, competence, integrity, and leadership in the professional discharge of his duties.
