Atiku Lauds Security Operatives for Rescue of Abducted Victims in Benue

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has commended security operatives for the rescue of abducted victims along the Makurdi-Otukpo road in Benue State on Wednesday.
Eight of the victims were confirmed to be candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, who hosted the victims at the Government House in Makurdi, called on JAMB to reschedule the examination date for the UTME candidates.
Reacting to the rescue, Atiku said: “The gallant troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have once again demonstrated courage, professionalism, and an unyielding commitment to the protection of innocent Nigerians.
“I commend our brave men and women in uniform for the successful rescue of the abducted passengers along the Makurdi–Otukpo road, including young UTME candidates whose futures remain bright because of this timely intervention. Their sacrifice and vigilance continue to inspire hope across our nation.”
The former Vice President also stressed the need to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and ensure that every Nigerian can travel without fear.
He emphasised that Nigeria must work, adding that it will only do so when those who stand daily in defence of Nigerians are adequately supported and equipped.
