Bill Gates Deserved National Honour Conferred on him – Shehu Sani 

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said that Microsoft Co-founder, Bill Gates deserved the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, conferred on him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Thelensng reports that President Tinubu conferred Gates with the honour on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to the President, the honour was bestowed on Gates for his sustained efforts in global health, polio eradication, education, innovation, and agriculture, particularly in Nigeria and Africa.

Reacting to the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sani asserted that Gates is one American billionaire who has consistently supported Nigeria with his resources and has not associated the country with fraudulent activities.

He wrote: “When many bad things are said about our country, yet Bill Gates believes in us and voluntarily spends his wealth to improve the lives of our people in both the North and South of the country.

“He refused to believe that stigma about a nation of princely online scams, drug peddling and corruption. Other US billionaires choose other causes and countries, but Gates kept faith with us over the years.”

The human rights activist added: “Many bad things have been said about his gesture, he never mind or retreated. He deserves the National honour conferred on him for being a good friend to this country.”
