Customs CG, Adeniyi Mourns Late Journalist Usigbe

The Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has mourned the passing of veteran journalist and Abuja Bureau Chief of the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, Dr. Leon Usigbe, who reportedly died in an Abuja hospital on Friday.

CGC Adeniyi paid tribute to Dr. Usigbe at the State House Press Gallery, Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Monday.

While signing the condolence register, he described the deceased as “a seasoned professional who carried out his duties with rare depth, integrity, and commitment to the ideals of journalism.”

The Customs boss acknowledged that Nigeria has lost a giant in the media landscape, noting that Dr. Usigbe was a journalist of uncommon excellence whose dedication to truth and fairness made him a reference point for many in the profession.

Adeniyi condoled with the bereaved family, members of the State House Press Corps, and the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, urging them to find comfort in the powerful legacy Dr. Usigbe left behind.

With years of experience, Dr. Usigbe established himself as a prominent voice in Nigerian politics, renowned for his perceptive commentary and bold reporting on governance issues.
