The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a self-proclaimed spiritualist, Odigie Moses, in the Ekpoma area of Edo State over the alleged sexual blackmail of an Indian woman, who was extorted of $1,100.
According to the EFCC, Moses misrepresented himself on Zelle, a social media platform, as possessing spiritual healing powers. He was contacted by the victim, an Indian woman, who sought spiritual intervention for what she believed were life-threatening challenges.
The Commission disclosed that the suspect subsequently deceived the woman into taking a naked spiritual bath, which he recorded live without her permission.
He thereafter allegedly blackmailed her into sending him $1,100 by threatening to make the video public.
“Investigation by the EFCC revealed that the victim had to pay the sum of $1,100 to the suspect in order to prevail on him not to release her nudity to the public,” the Commission stated.
The agency added that the suspect will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
