FG, Bi-Courtney Resolve 18-Year MM2 Concession Dispute

The Federal Government and Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited have reached a settlement over the long-standing disputes surrounding the concession agreement for the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MM2), paving the way for the resolution of legal battles spanning more than 18 years.

The settlement, announced by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, provides for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to begin receiving concession fees under the original agreement.

Under the agreement, the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) is also recognised as the property of the Federal Government, with FAAN retaining responsibility for its operations.

The settlement further allows Bi-Courtney to expand its apron at MM2 and operate regional flights across Africa, up to the terminal’s full capacity.

The Federal Government and Bi-Courtney have also agreed to waive historical claims against each other, establishing a framework for meeting their respective obligations going forward.

The resolution is expected to support infrastructure development, create jobs and strengthen investor confidence in public-private partnerships within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
